A number of travellers have been trapped in their cars due to flooding in Western Australia’s East Kimberley region.

The State Emergency Service says it has had to rescue a number of motorists stuck in their vehicles between the Frank and Fletcher rivers.

Purnululu National Park has also been closed because of the flooding, with the Department of Parks and Wildlife saying the Spring Creek track is impassable.

The Bureau of Meteorology figures says the area has had about 50-100 mm of rain in the past two days, and more could be in its way.

The ABC says conditions are normal for this time of year.
