Overseas tourist drowns in Litchfield's Florence Falls

An overseas tourist has drowned at Florence Falls in Litchfield National Park, south of Darwin.

An off-duty doctor and nurse performed CPR on the 25-year-old Chinese man in an attempt to revive him. However, the man was already dead by the time the CareFlight rescue helicopter arrived at the waterhole.

Police said the man was with five French backpackers who noticed he was missing.

The ABC reports that in 2007, a 58-year-old man from South Australia died at the same waterfalls, and a Taiwanese tourist died at nearby Wangi Falls in 2013.

Just a few days ago, the CareFlight helicopter was dispatched to Litchfield after a woman fell and hit her head.

No other details are known about the latest incident.
