Luckily for budget-minded grey nomads they most certainly won’t be the target for a brand new product to hit the market … Outback air!
Australian entrepreneur Joe Duchiera says OziAir uses specialised machinery to test the purity of the air, before it is placed into a compressed air can for sale.
The South Australian, who says the clean air is captured remotely from a few locations ‘off the beaten track and closed to the public’, hopes to sell the product to customers in China.
“It’s a bit of a secret, we remotely go out bush,” the 36-year-old told the Adelaide Advertiser. “We have air quality measuring devices we use to test the air to make sure we get the purest air we can.”
Mr Duchiera said he has had interest from China, Hong Kong and South Korea.
The Advertiser reports that the OziAir website, which carries Chinese translation, says customers inhale the ‘Outback air’ by using a face mask on the top of the can. It lasts for between 140-160 breaths, or about 10 minutes. The product will retail for $23.99 a can.
“If you’re searching for the cleanest and freshest air in the world, we believe that Ozi Air is it, captured in the pristine outback of South Australia,” the site says. “Using specialised equipment, our team travels as far and remote as possible in order to test then capture the cleanest and purest air.”
The site says the air is free from the air pollutants of everyday urban life, and quality and purity is ensured by testing OziAir it multiple times.
The product’s Facebook page claims as fact that the fresh air can take fitness to the next level, help relieve stress, and rejuvenate mind, body and soul.

OMG – brings me back to my teenage years in Toowoomba when they used to sell cans of air to the tourists then. Love to see an old idea recycled as new. As for replacing grey nomads, he would have been better off putting some bull dust in a can.
I was about to make a comment about that same enterprising sales promotion.
I use to tell my sales Reps, that an empty space on a retail store does not make any money. The only place I knew where money was made out of empty space was in Toowoomba Qld where you could buy a can of Mountain Fresh Air.
But the price was now where near that mention in the Grey Nomad article.
Smart idea.
Yes , great idea, buy a few cans and save all the expense of fuel etc. Take it to the next level and include different locations of capturing the air, eg: next to a cattle truck, in a sheep paddock, in a wheat field, in the mountains, by the ocean, by a camp fire. And as SKARYKITTY said, put some bull dust in a can, for good measure.
This would give a more rounded experience of the big lap- I think Joe should hire me as the Marketing Manager!
You can not be serious are people that stupid. Yes they are, just watched QLD episode of the Chase and they asked this mature aged school teacher where the Great Australian Bight was and she did not know.Good to know our kids are in good hands. I would say she would probably buy a can of air.
