A major upgrade of the Pialba Caravan Park in the Queensland town of Hervey Bay has now been completed, delivering improved facilities, bigger caravan sites … and a dog-friendly section.
Fraser Coast Regional Council Major Projects spokesperson, Cr Daniel Sanderson, said the redevelopment had transformed the popular beachfront park.
“The caravan park now boasts 95 sites for all types of camping which are larger and designed to accommodate RVs, along with the addition of a dog friendly section,” he said. “The popularity of the dog-friendly sites at Burrum Heads highlights the growing demand for pet-friendly travel, with many guests choosing the park specifically because they can bring their dogs.”

Cr Sanderson said the completed works would enhance the overall visitor experience and support the park’s long-term sustainability.
“The upgraded facilities provide a more functional, comfortable and welcoming environment for guests and position the park as an even more attractive destination for travellers visiting the Fraser Coast,” he said. “The completion of the Pialba Caravan Park upgrade follows the redevelopment of Scarness Caravan Park, which was completed in late 2024.”
The council’s Burrum Heads Caravan Park was also upgraded in 2025, while the council says it continues to plan for the future upgrade of the Torquay Caravan Park site in the coming years.
