Police have dragged a middle-aged man from a burning caravan at a Tasmanian caravan park.
The alarm was raised after thick black smoke was seen billowing from the caravan at the Barilla Holiday Park in Richmond on the outskirts of Hobart. The park manager was reportedly attempting to extinguish flames when emergency services arrived.
Police entered the caravan and managed found an unconscious man lying on his bed. They managed to drag him clear and he was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.
In a statement, police said a nine kilogram gas cylinder connected to a heater was found close to the seat of the fire.
The blaze is not considered suspicious.
