Caravan parks are being targeted by thieves in the Queensland town of Mount Isa.
Mount Isa Police are warning caravan owners to be especially vigilant with their belongings and not to make themselves an easy target. They say that in the past month, one caravan park aloe has reported four separate break-and-enter offences.
Police say most crime that occurs to caravans involves the theft of property including cash and valuables from unlocked vehicles. It is believes that a large proportion of offences may go unreported as travellers are eager to continue with their holiday plans.
Caravan parks are targeted by property offenders, as thieves are aware of the easy likelihood of finding unsecured vehicles, unlocked caravans, and easy access to valuables, including large amounts of cash.
Police say the spate of incidents in Mount Isa is a timely reminder for tourists to ask themselves whether they have adequate security?

A movement detecter siren is cheap and easy to place in your van. Most opportunists will go when the siren activates.
Where is the security in the Park???? Does not happen when free camping.(At this stage) Bunderberg area had same problem. I just avoid these places
Just another reason we travel with our trusty Jack Russell who camps outdoor the van. The best security you can have and companion to boot.
We were in the Isa in June, staying at one of their
Parks. It was happening then as well.
