Another caravan park along Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road is to receive a major upgrade to its facilities. Some $800,000 will be spent at the Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park to improve the electrical infrastructure there. Work will begin next month.
The upgrade will provide new power heads and water supply to 300 sites in the northern half of the park. The work will be carried out as part of the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee’s (GORCC’s) ongoing Caravan Park Improvement Masterplan. GORCC chief executive Richard Davies told the Surf Coast Times that revenue from the Lorne and Torquay Foreshore Caravan Parks provide 80% of GORCC’s annual income.
“Investment in our caravan parks is imperative to not only guarantee our revenue stream and provide a great experience for campers, but to bring as many visitors into the parks as possible and support local tourism,” he said.
