Caravan rollover in north Queensland injures two

Published: August 17, 2020

Two people are lucky to be alive following a horror rollover on a remote north Queensland road.

The Townsville Bulletin reports that a blue ute towing a caravan rolled on the Gregory Developmental Road, five kilometres north of Belyando Crossing on Saturday afternoon.

Two people were initially trapped in the wreckage but were later freed.

Townsville’s Rescue 521 helicopter flew the two patients, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, to Townsville University Hospital.

They were reported to be in a stable condition.

The caravan was completely destroyed in the rollover and the ute was heavily damaged.

Speed??
Much less chance of a problem at 90kph compared to 110kph.
Especially towing a ‘van HEAVIER than the tow vehicle!

There are parts of that road that are as rough as and not that wide, have to be very careful. Hope they were ok

Speed was probably a major factor. We are currently in the NT and we travel between 80 and 90 km per hour ,the speed limit is 130kmh on the open and I have had vans pass me doing close to the 130 kms limit as we say in Tasmania its a speed limit no a challenge.

I read an article recently where a new caravan buyer had his money refunded after it was proven that the van would sway before 90 klm…
