A 65-year-old man and his 66-year-old wife have gone missing while on a prospecting trip in remote Western Australia.
A massive search is now underway for the couple – and their 31-year-old son – after they didn’t return as planned from a trip to Windsor station, between Mount Magnet and Sandstone, about 500 kilometres east of Geraldton.
Police told the ABC that an aerial and land search failed to recover the three last night and resumed at first light today.
It is believed the family from Boddington, south-east of Perth, was camping with two vehicles – a Mitsubishi Campervan and a Honda Jazz.
The prospectors were last seen in Mount Magnet on September 4.
The current search area is near to where prospecting couple Raymond and Jennie Kehlet disappeared earlier this year. The ABC reports that, while police found the body of Mr Kehlet in a mine shaft in April, the whereabouts of his wife remains a mystery.
