The latest addition to South Australia’s silo art series is now complete, with some beautiful wildlife appearing on a silo on Kangaroo Island.
Standing at 25 metres tall, the silo is located in the island’s main town, Kingscote, and it is hoped will now draw more grey nomads and other tourists.
One side of the giant artwork features a kangaroo and her joey, while two of the Island’s endangered glossy black cockatoos – one perched on a tree branch and the other mid-flight – are on another.

The mural, created by visiting artists Cam Scale and Andrew Davis, is part of the Advance Kingscote Progress Association’s wider ‘Igniting Kingscote through Art’ project, which has seen a variety of other murals painted around the town.
The idea behind the silo art project is to increase visitor numbers and stimulate local economies as the community continues to recover from the 2020 bushfires that devastated the Island.
Local officials say tourist attractions like the newly completed silos are created for the purpose of increasing business opportunities while maintaining local heritage.
There are now 51 silo art projects across Australia, with Kangaroo Island being the latest.
