The relentless rain and ongoing flooding in many parts of the country is creating serious hazards on the roads for grey nomads and others.
Tragically, a body of a woman in her 20s has been found after the vehicle she was travelling in was reportedly swept into floodwaters near Mudgee in NSW.
Three others travelling in the Toyota Kluger were able to escape.
And in Queensland, a motorhome was almost completely submerged in rising waters at Goodar, north of Goondiwindi.
A woman in her 70s and man in his 30s are understood to have been able to self-evacuate from the vehicle with their dogs.
They were reportedly uninjured. However, they were transported to Goondiwindi Hospital in stable conditions for further assessment.
In light of the tragedy in NSW, that state’s Premier, Dominic Perrottet, has once again asked people to stop driving through floodwaters.
“You wouldn’t drive through bushfires, don’t drive through flood waters,” he said. “We continue to see people driving through floodwaters… we cannot be any clearer than that.”
