As the demand for caravans and motorhomes has gone through the roof, so too has the need for grey nomads and others to be more aware than ever about rig security.
Unlike under-awning fishing rod thieves or beer snatchers, those who target RVs aren’t just opportunistic … they can be organised, determined and highly professional.
In Victoria, Moorabbin police investigating the theft of a $65,000 caravan from the driveway of a family home on New Year’s Eve have just released CCTV images of the caravan, and the two men who they say may be able to assist with their enquiries.
In the footage both men are wearing masks and gloves. It is believed the offenders used an angle grinder to force the tow ball lock off the caravan.
