The rise and rise of the RV lifestyle is apparently sounding the death knell for the holiday home era.
According to research conducted by Pure Profile for RV manufacturer Jayco, more than 56% of people would rather hit the road in a caravan or motorhome than buy a holiday home.
The online survey of more than 1,000 people found 62% believed buying a caravan was a more cost-efficient option, while about 50% said it was a better way of meeting people.
“Purchasing an RV allows you the freedom to get out and go where you want, when you want, compared to a traditional hotel holiday,” said Jayco marketing director Andrew Ryan. “The maintenance costs compared to owning a holiday house are also substantially less, making owning an RV a more achievable dream for many Australians.”
The survey also revealed 63% of people would consider buying a caravan instead of holidaying overseas with the same number indicating the cost of hotel accommodation deterred them from taking a break.
Some 64% said they would go on holidays more often if they owned a caravan.
Why do you think being able to move from one beauty spot to another as often as you want is better than staying in an all-mod-cons holiday home in a top location?
