Published: May 10, 2017

A car towing a caravan has jackknifed and crashed into a second car in Townsville in north Queensland.

The Townsville Bulletin reports that multiple other vehicles stopped to assist those involved in the accident. An elderly man and a young woman were both taken to Townsville Hospital after suffering minor injuries.

The accident occurred on the northbound lanes of busy Woolcock Street just before the intersection with Mather St at about 7.50am yesterday.

Fire crews safely removed LPG gas tanks from the caravan, and Townsville City Council crews were also called out to clean up an oil spill.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
