A 54-year old caravanner has died after he was involved in a collision with a road train on Queensland’s Barkly Highway.
The man was driving a vehicle that was towing a caravan at the time of the accident, which occurred between Mount Isa and Cloncurry, 60 kilometres east of Mount Isa.
Paramedics assessed the driver of the car for critical injuries, but he died at the scene.
The truck driver was also assessed for minor injuries.
The impact of the crash caused the vehicle towing the caravan to roll, a Queensland Police spokesman said.
The highway between the Mary Kathleen jump-up and Fountain Springs was closed in the aftermath of the crash.
Investigations are continuing.
Very sad, but a lot of people towing shouldn’t be.
One should never assume who was at fault until after investigations are completed.
I think you need to be more specific the caravaner was overtaking the road train lost control and hit a tree there was no collision with the truck
