Only vaccinated should come to WA – tourism boss

Western Australia’s leading tourism body has called for all interstate arrivals into the state to be vaccinated.

The Tourism Council WA wants the requirements to be in place from December 1 to help provide certainty around travel arrangements. It says it should be mandatory for everyone entering WA – including workers and returning residents, as well as grey nomads and other tourists – to be vaccinated.

Last week, the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania issued a similar appeal calling for all entering the island state to be double jabbed.

“We would like to see these requirements put in place now to take effect from December 1 so that the industry can ensure it is only taking bookings from vaccinated guests from summer onwards,” the WA body’s chief executive, Evan Hall, told the ABC. “It’s a responsible position for the industry to take to ensure Western Australians are as safe as possible as we move towards a new Covid-norm.”

Mr Hall said it was an opportunity ‘to get ahead of it’ and to be in a position where tourism businesses could make it a condition of booking that customers were vaccinated.

“We’re very open to discussions with the government about how to do this,” Mr Hall told the ABC. “ We think it’s going to be part of ongoing border arrangements, more or less a vaccination passport.”

However, WA Premier Mark McGowan appears lukewarm on the idea … at least for the moment,

“The thing about it is, even when you’re vaccinated, you can transmit,” he said. “Now, when we get to a certain level of vaccination under the plan, those sorts of things, particularly at Phase D, will be possible … but certainly not at this point in time.”

Well, if that goes ahead and given that with my allergies and heart condition, that the jab is just enforced euthanasia to me and a lot of other people, W.A. won’t be getting the tourist dollars it needs. If I don’t have the shot, get Covid-19, it isn’t as if the vaccinated are going to suffer, right?

I suggest to the Tourism Council of W.A. that my body is my business and if they don’t want my business, fine, one state down, 6 more to tour!

Too true.
It’s up to you to get vaccinated or not. If a so called vaccine passport is rolled out what other dictatorship ideas are on the agenda.
Might as well invite the Taliban to run the place

This is not new – travel to certain countries requires vaccination such as yellow fever. No jab, no entry. Further you are ingesting chemicals of some sort everyday through the food you eat and medications taken, yet no one complains! Everyone has had vaccinations in the past to keep certain diseases at bay and the COVID vaccine is no different but unfortunately it has been hijacked by conspiracy theorists.
Talk to your doctor and listen to this advice, not social media!

To all those that say they can not be vaccinated due to chronic medical problems, I say they using as a crutch to avoid the vaccination. I have a grand daughter that has a chronic immunisation deficiency condition where she has to have infusions every 2 months. She has had the two jabs now with no side effects what so ever

My vaccination status is my business. W.A. has now been crossed off the bucket list along with Tasmania.

Hundreds of thousands of young men put their hand up, fought and died for our country. This is a Pandemic and some are whinging about a small needle jab.
Covid Delta is here to stay forever. Get medical advice and vaccinated..or stay in an isolated bubble somewhere.

More people die everyday from tobacco alcohol and dv.
How about more controls on them than wasting time and reasources for a vaccine

Maybe WA should look inwards first in regards to forcing visitors to be vaccinated. Based on yesterdays national figures they are the lowest State in the country (as a percentage of population) that are fully vaccinated at 27.17% vs NSW at 31.48% or VIC at 30.14%.

Sensible people would realize that any genuine medical reason for non vaccination would be accepted and would not prohibit entry to WA under this proposal. Over reaction from some on here, as usual.
