Two people are in a critical condition after a car towing a caravan jack-knifed and rolled over onto its side on the Hume Highway in Sydney’s south-west.
Emergency services found a 4WD partially on its roof near the Raby Road overpass at Woodbine, near Campbelltown, and the wreckage of the caravan laying nearby.
Both the driver and the passenger of the southbound vehicle were initially trapped. One of the patients was treated at the scene before being flown to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
The second person remains trapped, also with critical injuries.
Officers from Campbelltown Police Area Command are investigating and are reminding motorists to slow down to 40km/h while emergency services remain at the crash site.
One southbound lane on the Hume Highway and two northbound lanes remain open.
As grey nomads we are sorry to hear about this, especially near our home town. Hope they will be alright soon and back on the loop.
Best wishes A & A
The male driver died at the scene . His wife is on the mend . They were only an hr from home . They had been to Qlds on holidays . He had only just retired from work
Poor things! What a thing to happen while on holiday.
Very frightening, I’m just sitting in Pedders having a Tow & Load assessment and having them tell me I am currently on Maximum Masses! This horrible accident may not have been weight related but I’m attempting to reduce the risk.
