It’s dawn of a new era for the Grey Nomads website!
After more than a decade of loyal service, our ‘old’ site has taken a well-deserved retirement and given way to a cleaner, crisper, cooler replacement.
We hope you like the new website and will take some time to explore what it offers.
The biggest change, of course (other than a slightly less colourful look), is that the new site is mobile-friendly.
As more and more travellers look to access information and entertainment on their hand-held devices, this switch is long overdue … and we hope will make your browsing lives easier.
The new site makes better use of those wonderful on-the-road photos … and is fresher and easier to read.
There have also been big changes to the way the site is organised and the various sections are navigated to. We hope this will be more intuitive and enable both old and new readers to find the content they are looking for more easily.
In terms of content, we will be putting more focus on great places to visit, and on the events that are out there for travellers to enjoy … as well as bringing you up-to-the-minute news and more in-depth features on the issues facing today’s travellers.
The Classifieds and Grey Nomad Services sections have also been given an upgrade and this should enable you to find jobs, housesits, things to buy, or services you need much more effectively.
In the coming weeks and months, we will also be working to develop a membership section in which we can offer Grey Nomads members a range of benefits, discounts, merchandise, competitions and content to help enhance their on-the-road experience.
It is worth stressing that this membership initiative is something ‘extra’. Since its launch in 2005, this website’s overarching mission has been to bring grey nomads together and offer them a place to get news, share experiences, and offer each other support.
For that to work, this site has to be here for everyone.
It is and it always will be.
Back in 2011, it was the current website that was the bright, brash, newcomer as it elbowed out our original site which was launched way back in 2005. Over the years, the recently retired site has brought stories of triumph, tragedy, campsite dramas, and covered all of the issues that matter to you out there on the open road.
But all good things must come to an end.
We hope that as time rolls by, the new site will become a familiar friend to you as you continue your grey nomad adventures.
