It has been a wet summer for grey nomads in many parts of the country … and the weather looks set to continue affecting travel plans for a while yet.
A flood alert has recently been issued for large areas of inland NSW, with a thickening cloud band expected to dump heavy rain over the next few days.
Flash flooding is forecast for the Riverina, Lower Western, Upper Western, Snowy Mountain and South West Slopes regions today and early tomorrow as the cloud band moves north and east. Up to 100mm of rain is expected over some southern parts of the state today.
A flood alert remains in place for central western NSW with a large rain band expected to reach the Macquarie River and Lachlan River valleys.
Further north, there was more rain over the weekend in some flood-affected areas of south-west Queensland.
Rob Bardon from Valetta Station, south of Cunnamulla, says he recorded 30millimetres of rain – which will help to wash the mud off some pastures.
“Actually that will do a fair bit of good on that flooded country, it will wash all that silt and stuff off the grass on the flooded country,” he told the ABC. “If the water has gone off it, it will clean that up and do a bit of good.”
