A newly revamped lookout platform has opened at Cocoparra National Park near the NSW town of Griffith.
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service says it has replaced three ageing lookouts with a raised lookout platform, providing an elevated but safe viewpoint across Jacks Creek gorge and out across the sprawling plains to the west.
Jacks Creek walking track traverses through a sheltered gorge and up onto a ridge top, where visitors can enjoy scenic views, plentiful birdwatching and diverse tree and plant species.
The NSW Government provided $550,000 for the project, which also included upgrading the walking track, and installing new signage.

NPWS Director West Darren Pitt said the initiative would support regional tourism, boost the local economy, and ensure Cocoparra remains a ‘must-visit destination’ for years to come.
“The upgrades at Jacks Creek have created a safer and more accessible way for people to enjoy Cocoparra National Park,” he said. “Cocoparra National Park is truly unique – from birdwatching to spectacular ridge-top scenery – with these improvements making it even easier for people of all ages to experience its natural beauty in a safer and more enjoyable way.”
There have been a number of recent renewal projects carried out in Cocoparra National Park in recent years, including refreshed and updated facilities in both day use and campground areas.
