Ningaloo Coast online booking system trial goes to next phase … but is it better?

Published: March 6, 2026

Bookings are now available to be made at WA’s Ningaloo Coast campgrounds as part of a trial into a new online booking system.

Campers can now book for stays between Friday, August 28 and Thursday, September 24 across all campgrounds within Cape Range National Park, Nyinggulara National Park and Nyinggulu Coastal Reserves.

It is the second monthly release of bookings for the Ningaloo Coast as part of a three-month trial of a new bookings process.

“The first Ningaloo booking release in February made securing a campsite at Ningaloo more equitable and gave more people the chance to secure a booking,” DBCA Assistant Director Visitor Services Rod Annear said.

He said that once people had moved through the queue and are on the Park Stay WA booking site, they will be allocated a 30-minute session to complete their bookings.

DBCA says it has made improvements to the queueing process following the first monthly release and messages displayed on screen now change as people progress through the queue, to make the process clearer.

To avoid losing their place in the queue, it is apparently important that they don’t:

  • refresh or reload the page while queuing
  • stay away from the queue page for too long
  • join the queue on more than one browser tab or window.

However, some users still reported problems including not being able to navigate easily to the desired dates, long waits, and abruptly being signed out of the site after having waited patiently for some time.
