A man was forced to jump from a moving caravan after it was allegedly stolen and towed away … with him asleep inside!

The man suffered injuries to his shoulder and arm.

Police have charged an 18-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy with multiple offences following the incident, which took place in the Queensland town of Roma on Wednesday, April 10.

Police will allege the man and the boy stole a Mitsubishi utility from an address on Northern Road, Roma at approximately 10pm.

Approximately one hour later, police will allege the man and the boy stole a Toyota utility from another address on Northern Road. This vehicle was attached to a caravan and a man was sleeping inside the caravan at the time.

The man has jumped from the moving caravan as it was driving along the road, sustaining injuries to his shoulder and arm.

The vehicle crashed into a power pole nearby and the alleged offenders fled the scene.

The man in the caravan was transported to hospital.

Police recovered both vehicles and later located both alleged offenders.

The 18-year-old Roma man was charged with two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count of attempted unlawful use of motor vehicle.

He is due to appear at Roma Magistrates Court on May 15.

The 14-year-old Roma boy was charged with two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, and one count each of attempted unlawful use of motor vehicle and drive without due car and attention causing grievous bodily harm.

People thought I was paranoid when I used to chain my 200 series to the caravan even in caravan parks when in Queensland, last year. I regularly chain a front wheel to the bull bar. I did the same all the way back to WA. WA is no better and have been chaining up since 2022. Our young people know they’re only going to get a slap on the wrist and it’s even worse since the referendum last year.

Yes the Young one will only get a Slap on the wrist , so as to speak, but the 18Y.O. should go away for some time .

Why should the young one get a slap on the wrist!. When I grew up as a 14 yr old, I would have got a huge kick in the but, from the police & maybe a suspended sentence, not to mention what my dad would have dealt out to me. This what is wrong with our youth community. The doo gooders have wrecked our country @!

IF they are old enough to steal a motor vehicle – and then smash it up _ They should be made to pay for said vehicle repairs _ as punishment — even if it means they have to pay from their unemployment _ in a set up as for unpaid fines ?

Jail the parents for Kids crime or cut their benefits to pay for the damage. America jailed the father and mother for 18 months. We can do the same. Word will soon get out that juvenile crime has to be stepped by parents.
