Lighthouse Beach

STEVE SAYS: For me, this is all about textures. ‘Sand’ was one of the competition’s theme words and this is sand … but not the grainy, warm, golden sand of many Australia beaches.  This is wet, smooth and slick. I can feel the perfect, silky  smoothness of it … and then it contrasts dramatically with the imperfect misshapen ruggedness of the jutting rocks. The sand shaped by that day’s tides, the rocks shaped by thousands of years of weather and water. The lighting  is great. The shot is well framed. It is simple but, for me, incredibly eloquent.
