Steve says: I was mesmermised by the emu’s powerful gaze in this amazing shot. I could imagine any creature encountering eyes like that backing away immediately. The dishevelled feathers only add to the impression that this is one bird not to be messed with. Photographically the sharp focus on the emu reveals every detail down to the marks on a worn beak and the ‘skin’ under the wayward feathers. A great capture!
