Plenty of things can go wrong on a trip – this shouldn’t be one of them!

A pair of British motorhomers certainly had that sinking feeling when they came back from a stroll along the beach to see their pride and joy engulfed by the incoming sea!

The incident happened at Brean in the English county of Somerset when the carefree (and careless) holidaymakers neglected to remember the vast tidal nature of the Bristol channel.

The Plymouth Herald newspaper reports that the motorhome had to be winched from the waters by coastguards after it became partially submerged when the wheels got stuck in soft sand.

“Fortunately, the tide was not too high,” said Burnham Area Rescue Boat spokesman, Mark Newman. “The campervan could be recovered and driven away, but not all motorists are that fortunate.”

The grateful motorhomers have made a donation to the Burnham-on-Sea lifeboat charity to cover their costs.
