One of the country’s major caravan and camping shows is underway today in Adelaide, with grey nomads and wannabe grey nomads expected to be well represented,
The 2024 Let’s Go Caravan, Camping & Outdoor Show, which runs until February 18, will apparently inspire an expected more than 25,000 potential visitors to hit the road to discover more of regional South Australia.
For the first time, the five-day event is supported by the State Government through the South Australian Tourism Commission in an effort target the valuable self-drive market and further aid the state’s flood recovery.
Latest Tourism Research Australia data shows 89% of domestic caravan and camping trips are to regional areas across the nation.
Helping drive visitors to South Australia’s Murray River regions, this year’s program will feature stalls and live talking sessions dedicated to showcasing operators across the Riverland and Murray River, Lakes, and Coorong.
Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison said thousands of potential visitors will see South Australia at every turn at the show.
“We know caravan parks in particular were significantly impacted by the once-in-a-century flooding event last summer, and this is another way we are helping drive visitation and spend into their businesses and showcasing our state’s mighty Murray to an engaged audience,” she said. “What perfect timing to be supporting a key caravan and camping industry event and targeting the valuable self-drive market, with the ballot for the third round of our River Revival Voucher program opening next week.”
Canoe the Coorong Owner/Tour Guide, Brenton Carle said the Let’s Go Caravan, Camping & Outdoor show is a great opportunity for tourism operators such as Canoe the Coorong to showcase experiences in the Coorong National Park.
“Opportunities like this enable us to share our passion for doing what we love and inspire others to join us for a Coorong adventure like no other,” he said. “The self-drive market is integral to the success of operators such as ourselves who are located in the regions.”

No, we bought a caravan 13 years ago when we retired & we still have it, travelling all over Australia.
Caravan shows don’t interest us.
