Car and caravan catch fire on busy highway

A car and caravan have been destroyed in a fire on a highway on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula.

The blaze was reported at noon today on the Flinders Highway at Streaky Bay.

Three Country Fire Service crews attended the scene. They found a car and caravan well alight but they managed to safely extinguish the fire.

The Port Lincoln Times that there were not believed to be any injuries as a result of the incident.

The fire is believed to have started in the car and then spread to the caravan.

This is certainly not the first time that a caravan has caught fire on a busy road.

 Last November, a full-time solo grey nomad was been left homeless after her caravan was consumed by fire on Queensland’s Bruce Highway.

And in March last year, a grey nomad couple were left with ‘only the clothes on their back’ after their caravan was destroyed by fire. The pair had been driving near Oakey west of Toowoomba in Queensland when flames ripped through their van.
